History

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis was designed by architect Thomas P. Barnett and  completed in 1914. The cathedral is made of limestone from the quarries of the Ozarks and is Gothic Revival in style. It is 404 feet long, 241 feet wide, and has a capacity of 2,000 people.

The cathedral was designed to be one of the largest churches in the United States and is one of the ten largest Catholic churches in the world.

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis is known for its beautiful mosaics. The church has over 83,000 square feet of mosaic art, making it the largest collection of mosaic art in the world.
